Danny Shaheen, Cole Pulice and I wrote the lyrics to 'Larry's Lament' on a cold, whiskey-fueled night in winter 2012. We were trying to write an ode to the most pathetic man in the world, and I'd like to think we succeeded.

I gazed upon a maiden, let my thoughts of you subside
I slipped the ring from my finger as I stared into her eyes

I've been living this lie for a long, long time
Don't know when this will end

All I really need is a friend

She said her name was Mary and she looked a touch like you
She's had three kids too many, but at this point she'll have to do

Outside she steps for a cigarette,
"Say, I've got a light to lend"

All I really need
All I really need
All I really need is a friend

Marlboro Lights, a case of High Lifes, and a fifth of old Jim Beam
I'm just a fool playing the fool's game, and I'm running out of steam

I'll stay at home tomorrow
Or at least I always intend

All I really need
All I really need
All I really need is a friend

Saxophones, steel guitars, and Samsonite suitcases are but a few of the music makers you might trip over onstage at a show. ... more
